“My daughter and I had hunted in another unit in Idaho for several years and were looking for something different when I first saw Larry’s website and gave him a call. We talked briefly, I sent him a deposit, and that fall, we harvested our first whitetails. We have been back every year since, and over the years, we’ve been able to introduce her two boys and her husband to whitetail hunting at the Lazy J.
Larry and Vicky are generous hosts, and we enjoy our visits with them. Vicky’s meals are delicious. Larry preaches patience, the buck you see today will work his way closer to your blind, and if he doesn’t today, you’ll see him again tomorrow. He can spot deer on the farthest ridges!

I started my adventures with Larry and Vicky in 2018 and just returned from my 2025 visit to the Lazy J. I have been there every year except one when a surgery interfered with my plans. Without question, this trip to the South Fork Clearwater River area is the highlight of my year.
It's not just the harvest of a whitetail, but it's more of the welcoming atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, the comfortable lodge, the excellent meals and the hard work extended by Larry and Vicky to their guests. If you need anything just ask for it and they'll take care of it. They are the first one's up each morning and Larry has you in the prime blinds well before daylight. And Vicky is the best of all cooks. Don't go there expecting to loose weight.
All in all, this whitetail hunt is worth every penny spent. I'm sure their other hunts are as well. And, by the way, I have been fortunate enough to bag a nice buck every year. There are no guarantees, but Larry will do his level best to get you on a nice buck.
