It was the highlight of our July, 2014 Alaska vacation!

Courtney and I met Larry and Vicky at the Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show in Spokane, WA in March, 2014.  They were different from the other guides we met that day.  Larry and Vicky were very personable as they shared information and stories about their guiding services.   We liked the idea of fishing with a smaller more intimate outfit – one where we would be the only clients during the 6 days we were in Pelican.  Courtney’s father Dave had always wanted to make a trip like this so the 3 of us quickly booked our Alaskan fishing adventure!

Larry and Vicky were very accommodating to our wishes.  We wanted to experience great fishing but also experience the incredible Alaskan wildlife and scenery.  From day one and throughout the rest of our trip we were visiting waterfalls, viewing snow covered peaks and glaciers as well as wildlife including bald eagles, sea otters, seals, sea lions, porpoises, orca whales, humpback whales and a brown bear.

The fishing was great, even though the weather did not cooperate much during the 4 days we fished.  When the wind and rain caused rough open seas Larry took us to several bays and inlets that were protected by islands.  Each area we tried offered great fishing.  While there we caught several varieties of fish including ling cod, rock fish, yellow eye, halibut, sea bass and a variety of salmon including silver, chum, pink and king.  Not a day went by without catching fish.  We ended up releasing several but kept enough that would allow the 3 of us to take home our own 50 pound box of fillets!

From the fishing to the sightseeing and the time back at the lodge where Vicky prepared our meals you made our trip one to remember.  Courtney and I are looking forward to seeing you again at this year’s Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show.
