My wife and I followed the pickup over and up on a steep mountain road. We passed through wooded and brushy canyons with long open views.
Good looking deer country, I thought, but not a deer in sight.
When we arrived, we introduced ourselves to the folks in the pickup who were the lodge owners, Larry and Vicky.
We had arrived at the Lazy J Ranch.
The Lazy J lodge is large and spacious, and with the owners accompanying us, they were very welcoming. We talked of the upcoming days, the hunt, the country, and my physical abilities. I told them that because of my very recent health problem, I thought this would be my last hunt; that I would never hunt again. Outfitter and Owner, Larry Jarrett, looked at me and said: “You don’t have to stop hunting. You just need to change the way you hunt.”
You’ve got to experience the Lazy J Ranch.
Private, scenic, and comfortable, with just a touch above being “off the grid”. The coffee is always on, the food is always good and plenty, the atmosphere easy and relaxing. And the hunting…….the same relaxed and comfortable feeling!
Hunt from a stand, and pick the stand you want at the time of day you want.
Deer? Lot’s of them! How about 60 in a day?!
Bucks and does. No monsters, but deer to get you excited and your blood pumping!
I took the deer I wanted. A four point Idaho whitetail from Lewis and Clark country that will be just perfect for eating.
And game care after the hunt?
That was perfect, too. Outfitter Larry Jarrett had my deer gutted, skinned, and cleaned in less than one hour. I’d never done that before.
You are so right, Larry Jarrett! I don’t have to stop hunting. I just have to change the way I hunt. You showed it to me. It was great.
Thank you. Let’s go hunting again!
